People who live in the big cities of the western world will be surprised to learn that Ibiza, a tiny island with only 100,00 people, has more than one level of Government.
All the local parishes have their own councils, then the island has its own 'consell,' and then of course there are the Balearic and National Governments as well. One wonders how anything ever gets done here? Slowly is the answer, and probably even slower now that two different political parties are in power in the Ibiza town council and the Consell Island Government.
Already the Consell has said that it will not provide any economic aid for Ibiza Town's proposals to construct an underground car park in town, and the remodelling of the port area to provide less traffic congestion.
Watch this space to see if anything happens.
