There's an abundance of fresh water available from Ibiza's newly connected desalination plants.
The only problem is that nobody's getting it! The Director General of Hydraulic Resources has reported that of all the boroughs on the island only one, San Jose, has requested the desalinated water, to be used in the holiday suburb of Cala de Bou.
Meanwhile poor old Playa den Bossa had no water at all the other day. A burst pipe was the culprit, reducing water pressure in the whole area to a force where not even a trickle found its way from the taps.
The rupture was fixed by the same evening, enabling hundreds of tourists to shower off after a hard day at the beach.
