Ibiza has joined the Spanish branch of the Club for cities which have been World Heritage, or 'Patrimonio de Humanidad' status. The Mayors of Alcalá de Henares, Ávila, Cáceres, Córdoba, Cuenca, San Cristobal de la Laguna, Segovia, and Toledo, arrived fashionably late in Ibiza after an hour and a half delay to their flight from Madrid. After they were treated to a display of country dancing Ibicenco style, they all signed the 'Book of Gold' in the town hall with our Mayor Xico Tarrés in attendance. The aim of the association is to work together to share experiences of promoting the cities as destinations for cultural tourism, and particularly in the case of Ibiza, as more than purely a 'beach, bar, club' holiday.
